almost done...

the drawings are things the person who is getting the book likes.

Pretty cool eh.
my most favorite day of the year is today! Halloween!!! Sadly this year I have not been in the highest of spirits. I have only watched a handful of scary movies and didn't even dress up for work or parties. Some years are just like that I guess. I do think I will have a morning/day time fire and stay in my pj's for the majority of the day.

Here is the extent of my dressing up this year.

My west Oakland witch:

and the good witch of the east bay:

oooh.. spooky right..

I did however go to the Murder Ballads last night and stayed for a couple hours. I made a extra special effort to see The Ukaladies. They were fantastic!! Their set was based off of Donnie Darko. I took a video of them but somehow it has disappeared. Must be a Halloween trick.

I did capture some still of them:

spooky!!!!

Happy Halloween ya ghouls!

Stitched up!

I'm loving the look of this book so far.. now for some drawings and personalizing. Can you tell I'm going for a natural worn out look. I want the book to look distressed and intriguing. You can't see it but there are stains on the wood.. I have been carrying the book around with me. There is even a leaf sewn into the book.

I was commissioned to make a journal style book for a friend of mine. Here are some pictures of the process:

Don't know why this picture is sideways.. but

Can't wait to see the personality of this form a bit more.

Chickens..

You folks here in blog world aren't yet aware that I have been drawing little chickens.. Yes, chickens!

I started drawing little chickens several months back. I was out with a friend, we were just chatting and I was doodling and there was the chicken. I've been doodling these little chickens all around town since. I started drawing people as chickens and now I have a silly following/demand for these cuties.

I started carrying around a small drawing bag with me every place I go now (since the drawing event at Levende). I draw chickens so much I'm even asked to stop at times. I typically give all the chickens away.. so I'm trying to document them now.

This was my favorite from yesterday:

art critics swoon!

I'm sure more chickens will grace this space in the future.. but until then please do enjoy.

My poor neglected blog.. oh how I have missed you so. It truly has been far to long, my aplogies.

I haven't had much time to write lately. It was kept on the down low in blog world and what not.. but I'm in the middle of starting a new job. I haven't had time to do much other than be overwhelmed and tired. I'm finally for the first time in a couple weeks sitting down in my studio. Of course no weekend morning would be complete without my coffee and music.

The seasons have fully changed now.. or so I think. I was in bed listening to the rain fall outside this morning. I love that sound and the smell of rain.

Here are some things I've been up to the last couple of weeks other than work:

Outside the kitchen window this morning.... all overcast and rainy.

Let the fires begin.. "US" magazine not included with all fires.

Picked up some eggs from a friend..

Chickens are so funny!

I also cooked a bunch last weekend.

That's the start of something good eh..

oh my.

Yes please.

Music I'm listening to right now on a rainy, cold fall day..
Rachel's I love this band.. so, so, so good! I'm pretty sure I've written about them before.

The art event went well last night and I met so many great and interesting people, including a woman named Jen. Jen does a very cool photo website where she takes a picture of a stranger daily and posts. I'm lucky enough to be one of the strangers (my sister too). I saw the picture and said.. oh you should retake it because I'm not giving you a big smile and Jen said that everyone does that and mine was different. Check out the picture and all the other strangers at strangerproject.org. I love meeting people that are doing their own artistic adventures... very inspiring.
